Gentle Reminder

Friday, January 30, is the Fifth Friday so the Winter Market WILL NOT be open. Hold on for just a week - we'll be there on the First Friday - February 6th.

Also, the weather's clearing so it's back to business. The Food Safety Workshop in Mount Vernon will be held as scheduled on Saturday, January 31. If you're a grower, whether for your family or for the public, be there! Details to the right.

Review the Market

The market is listed on yelp.com, an internet review site. I know it's not exactly high season at the market, but I'll forget to let you know about it later. Soooo, head on over to the site, plug in the zip code 64870 and let everyone know what you think about the market.

Calling for meal vendors

The Webb City Farmers Market is accepting proposals for meal vendors.

The Friday lunch at the market, served between 11 and 1, is a set menu, changing weekly. Typically between 70 and 100 meals are served each week. The meal cost last year was $6 and usually included the entrée, two sides, dessert and drink.

The Saturday breakfast is served from 9 to 11 and typically cost $5 or less, including drink. In 2008, 40 to 50 customers ate breakfast. It is anticipated that the Saturday market will draw more customers in 2009.

The market is open from May through October.

Persons interested in submitting a proposal for the 2009 season should contact Eileen Nichols at 673-5866. Proposals will be accepted until February 15.

Winter Market this Friday (1/16)

Wear your woolies! It's supposed to be cold. But after waiting a whole month for your local meats and baked goods, you won't want to miss market this Friday - from 11 to 2. Actually, I'd make it early and come by noon. Don't know how long the vendors will last in the cold weather! (Sorry, no lunch this Friday.)

Also, if you're a Jasper County resident, but sure to vote for your choice for the County Extension Council. The ballot box will be at the market this Friday.
